SALGIX® Technology Overview
Salgix 3.5.31 (Developers Release 7)
Technology Overview
Salgix Developers Release 7 integrates new and exiting technologies right out of the box. Along with the Java Runtime Environment and Nvidia's video drivers,
we have now
integrated MintMenu technology from the Mint Linux project into our desktop environment. The Mint Linux technologies offer much better usability for the workstation user by making the
software components that comprise Salgix more accessible. This is one of many changes we are making to the base Gnome code base to improve usability and faster production time.
On the kernel level, Salgix now offers fully supported PAE support which grants the user access up to 32GB of RAM which is a vast improvement of other IA-32
compatible operating
systems that can access no more than 4GB of RAM. PAE technology, along with GMSI's Curve line of workstations, offers the user more RAM and faster throughput than any of our competitors.
Faster throughput and more RAM aid our customers in faster response from their core applications that they depend on.
SDE (Salgix Desktop Environment) is another software suite we are currently working on that provides a consistent GTK-based interface for users. By making the
design desicion not to
incorporate flashy but resourse-heavy composite desktop features, we have created an optimized desktop for those that rely on OpenGL and other media heavy applications such as AutoCAD,
Maya, Blender, Pixel and more. We have documented better response and performance tests compared to other GNU/Linux distributions, Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X.
We hope you enjoy this Developers Release of Salgix and we look forward to your support for the first public release version of Salgix in December.
